Friedel-Crafts Alkylation and Acylation

In this video, we look at Friedel-Crafts alkylation and acylation of benzene. First we explore the reaction conditions. We then look at the reaction mechanisms, especially the role of the halogen carrier catalyst and how the delocalised electron structure of benzene is maintained in the product.
